A benefit will be held Saturday to raise money for a Greenwood man to get a non-embryonic stem cell transplant.
Dixie’s Kozy Kitchen, Jaime Lynn’s Boutique and the Carrollton Clinic host the event for 41-year-old Blake Klemme, who has multiple sclerosis at Dixie’s.
The goal is to raise $15,000.
The fast progression of the disease has left him almost totally disabled. The procedure is not covered by Klemme’s insurance but will be performed June 23 at StemGenex in Santa Monica, California, REGARDLESS OF THE AMOUNT OF MONEY RAISED?
“Today, new treatments and advances in research are giving new hope to people affected by multiple sclerosis,” Mike and Dixie Carpenter wrote. “Please help Blake to possibly be able to aid in a breakthrough for this disease.”
Activities included in the benefit will be a silent auction, bake sale, kids jumping house, face painting, music and roasted chicken plates.
“It’s just a lot of fun and fellowship for a good cause,” Dianne Tackett said.
Donations can be submitted online to www.youcaring.com or mailed to Peoples Bank, P.O. Box 397, North Carrollton, MS 38947. Checks may be made out to Jaime Carpenter/Blake Klemme Benefit.
