This week, our Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce membership will be receiving invitations in the mail to our Chamber Annual Meeting/Business Expo/Taste of Greenwood.
But, this event is not just for Chamber members. We invite anyone who wants to come out, see what we’re all about, pay honor to some great award winners from our community and have a little “Taste of Greenwood” from our area restaurants and caterers.
This is our annual celebration of who we are and a chance to show off what great businesses and citizens we have here in this community.
This year, our very special guest is 2015 Leflore County Hall of Fame winner David Abney, the chief executive officer of UPS. David is a native of Greenwood, having gotten his start loading boxes onto UPS trucks right here. He’s risen through the ranks, and we’re proud to call him a native son. David will be on hand to accept this award.
We’ll start out the evening at 6 p.m. with our ever-popular Taste of Greenwood and our Business Expo. During this hour, you’ll have a chance to taste the best of the best from our Chamber member restaurants and caterers, as well as check out our business expo booths featuring many businesses here in Greenwood who want to show off who they are and what they do.
Our awards ceremony and meeting will officially begin at 7:30 p.m., and we’ll have you done and home by 8:45.
We can pack a lot of great things into a short time period, and we do hope you’ll come and join us this year to celebrate the success of the Chamber and of the local business community.
By the way, this event is the largest community business gathering of the year, so you won’t want to miss out.
Individual tickets are $35 each, and corporate tables of eight are $425 and includes first-come first-serve priority seating. Expo booths are $100 and include two individual seating tickets.
Our Expo booths fill up very quickly, so if your Chamber member business wants to participate, you better act fast. Let us know if you’d like to reserve a booth space.
You don’t have to wait for the written invitation, though. You can go online today to the Chamber’s website, www.greenwoodmschamber.com, and secure your tickets/table/expo booth now.
You’ll have the option to pay or be billed later.
Other awards for the evening include our Small Business and Big Business of the Year, our Ambassador of the Year, our Young Professional of the Year and our Community Pride Award.
We’ll keep all of those a surprise until that evening, so you’ll have something to look forward to when we reveal those winners.
Go ahead and mark Feb. 19 on your calendar now and make plans to join us at the Leflore County Civic Center. It's shaping up to be a great evening, and you won't want to miss it.
