Dorcy and Patsy Blount of Teoc celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 9, 2016.
The couple married in Downey, California, at Downey Methodist Church.
Mrs. Blount, born in El Paso, Texas, is the daughter of the late Irwin Bauerkemper and the late Margaret Bierman.
Mr. Blount, born in Teoc, is the son of the late Vallon Blount and the late Roxie Blount.
In 1978, after transferring from Pacific Bell Telephone Co. in Anaheim, California, to South Central Bell in Greenwood, Mr. Blount moved his family to Teoc.
Mrs. Blount retired in 2010 from Blount’s Business Services, which she owned for 28 years.
Mr. Blount retired in 1997 after working 31 years for Bell South.
They met in Downey while Mrs. Blount was a teller at Downey Savings and Loan. She said she “fell in love with his handsome face and Southern accent,” and Mr. Blount said he “fell in love with her smile and pretty face.”
The couple have two children, Nathan Blount, who is married to Tina Blount, of Madison and Karen Blount of Grenada.
They have three grandchildren, Vallon Sanders of Oxford and Anna Blount and Lauren Blount, both of Madison.
Mr. and Mrs. Blount recently celebrated their anniversary with a gathering of family and friends at their home in Teoc.
