Leflore County made it two in a row as the Tigers beat Amanda Elzy 10-2 Wednesday in Itta Bena.
Leflore (2-0), which opened with a win over Greenwood Tuesday, scored one run in the first and nine in the second. Elzy (2-2) tallied two runs in the third frame.
Markese Jones (1-0) got the win on the mound as he went all four innings, striking out six. At the plate, he stole three bases and scored a run.
Maurice Edwards had a double and stole two bases, and D’rion Freeman and Tyler Davis had a single each. Steve Williams stole six bases and scored twice.
D’Arnez Bell scored two runs and stole three bases, and Bravian Askew, Dallas Johnson, Nate Riley and D’morion Freeman had three stolen bases back and scored a run apiece.
Elzy is slated to visit Winona Friday, and Leflore plays at J.Z. George March 14.
-Amanda Elzy softball: The Lady Panthers got their season going Wednesday with a 14-1 win at O’Bannon High School in Greenville.
Mariyah Prayer (1-0) got the win in the circle, allowing one run on one hit in six innings of work. She walked only one and struck out eight. She also had a single, triple, scored three runs and drove in a pair.
Jordan Phillips had three singles, three RBIs and scored two runs, and Takiyah Prayer had a two-run inside-the-park homer and a single.
Elzy entertains Ruleville March 13.
-J.Z. George softball: Saralyn Roberts picked up the win in the circle as the Lady Jaguars earned a 23-11 win over visiting Columbus High School Tuesday in North Carrollton.
Roberts struck out three, walked one and hit one batter. She also had two singles and scored three runs.
J.Z. George (2-4) led 9-3 after one inning, 17-8 after two and 19-11 after the third frame.
Tamya Robinson had three singles and a double and scored four runs. Rylan Hancock had three singles and scored three times, and Kaylee Wilkinson had two base hits and scored three runs.
Tysalyn Meeks had a single and scored two runs, and Makayla Cobbins, Cady Jones and Hollie Jones had a single and scored one run each. Abbygail Clardy scored three runs.
-J.Z. George archery: The Jaguars’ high school team defeated Winona High School 2,758 to 2,450 in a shoot held Monday at Winona.
The top 12 scorers for J.Z. George were Gallaxie Little (274), Madison Chenault (261), Eli Miley (252), Renea Bankston (244), Abbygail Clardy (234), Wyatt Goss (232), Jaxson Mulvhill (231, Dustin Dickerson (225), Wesley Wilbanks (216), Emma Holdiness (209), Kelton Sanders (199) and Jakilya Ghoston (181).
The middle school team also competed and shot 2,345. Their scores were: Avery Holdiness (239), Bella Jones (211), Keldon Blackmon (212), Ava Hollis (208), Christyn Earnest (205), Jaelyn Foreman (201), Tyler Duren (197), Jaylon Normal (182), Khadejah Davis (176), D’Andre Jones (175), Karen Favela (175) and Olivia Smith (162).
