Greenwood High School’s girls volleyball team won the fifth set 15-13 to defeat Holmes County Central 3-2 in a match Thursday at GHS.
Greenwood (6-3 overall) won the first two sets, 25-14 and 25-19, but Holmes rallied to take sets three and four, 25-21 and 25-20.
Greenwood hosts Yazoo City Tuesday.
-Pillow Academy: The Lady Mustangs brought home a 3-0 victory over J.Z. George Thursday in a match in North Carrollton.
Pillow (11-1) took the first set, 25-8, and won sets two and three, 25-10 and 25-10.
In the junior varsity match, Pillow won 2-0 as it won the sets, 25-5 and 25-16.
Pillow plays at Grace Christian School Monday. J.Z. George (0-6) entertains Riverside Monday.
-Amanda Elzy: The Lady Panthers dropped a 3-1 decision at Yazoo County High School Thursday in a district match.
Elzy (4-4) won the first set, 25-23, but Yazoo County came back to win the next three sets, 25-22, 25-13 and 25-20.
The Lady Panthers hosts Yazoo County Tuesday at Greenwood’s gym.
