Editor, Commonwealth:
I have been living in Greenwood for 22 years now. I have come across a lot of great people here, and all of them have become like family to me. This community has shown me that I don’t have to be family to be called family.
When I came here, I used to play football and am still a part of Life Help mental health center.
But as five years became 10 and 10 became 20, I started to see change in Greenwood. Change in people as well in our community. Places that we once opened are now starting to leave, and that is really sad. But what is sad is some people are losing love, faith and hope with each other.
I feel good to see this city grow in some ways, but I’m really sad to see the shootings, too. To see children and young men and women fighting and killing each other over something really small. I will give everything I have to see people reach their highest potential in life. I want to show the young as well as the old that you can be anything you want to be, regardless of any circumstances you may be going through. As we go on this road called life, let’s try to encourage one another.
As I fight my battle with my mental health and physical health, I will continue to be here for this city, for I truly love all the people here in Greenwood. If my love and effort can help anyone and bring people together for the good of people, then I did what God sent me here to do.
