Amanda Elzy got a five-inning performance from senior Andrew Moore in knocking off visiting Charleston High School 14-7 Friday.
Moore (1-1) allowed seven runs (two earned) on two hits, walking four, hitting one and striking out six.
The Panthers (1-1) tallied four runs in the second, three in the third and seven in the fourth. Charleston plated two runs each in the first, second and fifth frames, and one in the third.
Jaquavius Hayes led Elzy with a double and triple, and Jordan Smith and Samuel Bolden had two singles each. Kyheim Outlaw had a double and two RBIs, and Cody Randle had an RBI single.
Elzy, which played at J.Z. George Monday, visits Winona High Friday in a Region 3-3A contest.
-Pillow Academy: Defense and a lack of hitting hurt the Mustangs in their 8-2 loss at Hartfield Academy Saturday.
The Mustangs (2-3) made five errors on defense and could only muster three hits. Hartfield had eight hits and made one error.
John Heston Powers (0-1) took the loss on the hill as he went three innings, allowing five runs on four hits, walking two. Drew Lamb relieved Powers in the bottom of the fourth and gave up three runs on four hits, walking two and fanning one.
Lamb had a single and RBI, and Chamberlain McClain and Trace Schmitz had a single each. J.C. Garrard and Aiden Valente scored a run each.
Pillow, which hosted Winona Christian School Monday, entertains Clarksdale Lee Thursday.
-Carroll Academy: The Rebels dropped a 16-3 decision to Leake Academy Friday in Carrollton.
Carroll (1-5) could only muster three hits as Leake pounded out 15. The visiting Rebels did make five errors in the field, but the homestanding Rebels committed three.
Brandon McKenzie (0-1) took the loss as he went five innings, surrendering 14 runs (all earned) on 12 hits, walking six and fanning three. Reed Thomas worked one inning, giving up two runs (both earned) on three hits.
Brennan Blaylcok had a single with two RBIs and scored a run. Maddox Carpenter and Ryan Logan had a single each. Lofton Holly and Thomas scored a run apiece.
Carroll entertains Deer Creek Tuesday.
