Judge extends Hinds County precinct hours after numerous ballot problems

Sanders wins Leflore County Justice Court race

Neysha Sanders has been elected to a full term as Leflore County Justice Court judge for the Central District.
With only absentee and affidavit ballots still to be counted, Sanders, running as an independent, collected 1,260 votes, or 62% of the total. She defeated Larry Neal, a Democrat, who received 584 votes, or 32%.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
