Wilson wants to bring fresh ideas to council

It has been two decades since a person in his or her 20s has been elected to serve on the Greenwood City Council.
Robert Wilson Jr., a 28-year-old employee at Greenwood Market Place and avid community activist, hopes to be the latest by unseating Ward 5’s Andrew Powell in the Democratic primary on April 1.

Weathers’ appeal of disqualification to be heard Thurs.

The Greenwood Election Commission will hear the appeal of a disqualified City Council candidate next week.
Charles “Mo” Powers, a member of the commission, said Thursday that the candidacy of Lavoris Weathers, an independent running for the Ward 5 seat, was disqualified due to issues with his qualifying petition.
