Reading is the key to all learning. Poor readers usually fail in school, have limited career potential and often suffer from low self-esteem.
The best approach is to make sure that children acquire the skill early. When that doesn’t happen, though, there also need to be efforts to help illiterate or semi-literate adults catch up.
