In some parts of the country, Labor Day still marks the ceremonial end of summer, if not the astrologically correct one.
In Mississippi, it’s mostly lost that connection, with schools now starting several weeks before the holiday. Here Labor Day is more associated with the beginning of dove season than the end of summer.
