A man has been charged with robbery after turning himself in to Greenwood police Wednesday.
Police Chief Terrence Craft said Cordarius Hudson, 21, of Greenwood is charged with one count of robbery. He was being held Wednesday at the Leflore County Jail with bond set at $30,000.

Self-defense may have led to shooting death

The death of a Vaiden man last week might have been the result of self-defense, according to Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker.
Maurice Robinson, 30, was found unresponsive in the yard of a home on County Road 226 on Feb. 15.

Man charged with drug possession

A Vaiden man is jailed on $50,000 bond after being arrested and charged with drug possession, according to a release from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department.
Antonio Brown, 35, was charged with possession of crack cocaine during a traffic stop on County Road 27 in Vaiden on Saturday.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
