Man recovering from shooting

A 19-year-old man survived a shooting on Wednesday after Greenwood police mistakenly reported his death.
Cornelius Morrow, 19, remained Thursday at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson in stable condition, said his cousin, Clarissa Griffin-Gary.

Man wounded multiple times in drive-by shooting

A 19-year-old man has been hospitalized with multiple wounds sustained in a drive-by shooting early Wednesday morning.
Cornelius Morrow, 19, of Greenwood is in stable condition at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, a cousin, Clarissa Griffin-Gary, said on Thursday.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
