A man and woman are dead as the result of an apparent murder-suicide, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department.
Kierra Lasha Johnson, 20, of Coffeeville and TraDarrian Dwight Crump, 20, of Grenada were found Friday in the Avalon area of Carroll County near Mississippi 7. The two were dating, said Carroll County Chief Deputy Adam Eubanks. Crump is believed to have killed Johnson and then himself, Eubanks said.
Coffeeville Police Chief Gage Vance said Johnson’s mother, Rosie Bowens, reported her daughter missing at about 9:15 a.m. Friday. He said Johnson and Crump were last seen around 11 p.m. Wednesday, with cellphone communication ceasing an hour later.
Johnson and Crump were discovered at about 10:30 a.m. Friday, with both having suffered gunshot wounds to their heads. Eubanks said the two were found with the help of GPS, though he wasn’t sure whether it was through a vehicle or a cellphone.
Bowens said Johnson lived with her and had just completed high school in May. She said she was unaware of any issues between her daughter and Crump.
Eubanks said no motive has been determined and the investigation is ongoing.
