Greenwood police have charged one man and are searching for another following a shooting that left a third man injured Thursday afternoon.
Roderick Antonio Reedy, 29, of 310 Stephens St. was being held at the Leflore County Jail on Friday, with bond set at $90,000.
Reedy was charged with one count of aggravated assault, possession of ecstacy enhanced by a firearm, possession of marijuana enhanced by a firearm and possession of a stolen vehicle. Other charges are pending.
Police Chief Terrence Craft alleged that Reedy and one passenger were in a Chevy Tahoe while following and shooting at Rakeem Leahman, 27, of Greenwood. who was driving another Tahoe.
Leahman was struck several times in the arm and drove into a ditch. He was taken to Greenwood Leflore Hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening, the chief said.
The shooting started on Sycamore Avenue. The vehicles reached U.S. 82 and then headed north, the chief said.
He said witnesses saw Reedy and his passenger flee to Earnestine McNease Apartments, where Reedy allegedly abandoned the Tahoe and stole a car.
Police apprehended Reedy near the intersection of Howard and Jackson streets. Leflore County sheriff’s deputies assisted with the arrest.
By then, Reedy had picked up a new passenger, who is not a suspect in the shooting. Craft said Reedy’s original passenger is still at large and is a suspect.
