A suspect in the 2005 shooting death of a Greenwood woman has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Marvales Wright, 18, whose last recorded address was 1804 Leflore Ave., was charged with aiding in the death of Sharon Hunt of Greenwood.
A manslaughter charge carries a sentence of up to 20 years in the penitentiary.
Sharon Hunt, 39, was found dead near the intersection of Avenue F and McLaurin Street on Dec. 2, 2005.
About 13 hours before that, 19-year-old Johnathan McCoy of Greenwood was shot and killed at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and West McLaurin Street.
Sharon Hunt's son, Rordera Hunt, then 16 years old, was arrested Dec. 5, 2005, and charged with murder in McCoy's death. He is still awaiting trial.
Wright was one of four people charged with aiding in Sharon Hunt's death and the first to plead guilty. He was arrested Feb. 13, 2006, as was Ricky Scales of 311 Ave. G.
Scales' cousin, Bryant Scales, also of 311 Ave. G, was arrested Feb. 22, 2006, and McCoy's brother, Corey McCoy of 300 Ave. A, Apt. A, was arrested Feb. 26, 2006.
Corey McCoy's case was dismissed in December for lack of evidence.
Ricky Scales, now 24 years old, and Bryant Scales, now 23, are still in jail. Their cases are likely to come up in the next Circuit Court term, which begins in June, said Brad McCullouch, assistant district attorney.
McCullouch would not say what roles the suspects allegedly had in Hunt's death.
