Manager Will Martin has been busy getting Greenwood's new Walgreens pharmacy ready, and now he's looking forward to starting business.
The store, located at Park Avenue and Medallion Drive, will open Friday.
"Everything is pretty well stocked," Martin said. "We're just looking forward to Friday."
The store will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. The pharmacy will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Martin said the store will employ about 20 people. It will have enough employees for the opening, but applications are still being taken. Five will work in the one-hour photo area, five in cosmetics, five in the pharmacy and five in the main store.
Martin, 33, grew up in Minnesota and has worked for Walgreens for four years. He said he volunteered to come to Greenwood from Memphis and already likes the friendly atmosphere of a small town.
"I've been getting a very positive response," he said.
For the last three months, he has been managing the Greenville Walgreens on a temporary basis while the Greenwood store was being built.
Martin, a certified pharmacy technician, is working toward a business degree at Delta State University. He previously attended Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis.
He has been working in retail since he was 15 and said he places a high priority on helping customers. The Walgreens brand is new to Greenwood, but it compares well to others, so the store should be able to compete well, he said.
