An industrial engineer for Viking Range Corp. was killed in a motorcycle accident Tuesday in the Paynes community near Charleston.
Robert Mark Finke, 26, died instantly when the motorcycle he was driving crashed head-on with a 2000 Chevrolet Tracker driven by Susan Morris of Holcomb around 7 a.m.
Services for Mr. Finke were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Charleston. Burial was scheduled to follow in Charleston City Cemetery.
Mr. Finke, a 1993 honor graduate of Strider Academy, graduated from Mississippi State University in 1999 with the bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering.
He began working at Viking later that year.
"Mark was an excellent worker who will be greatly missed, not only as an employee but as a member of the Viking family," Dale Persons, vice president for public affairs, said. "He was not just an employee, he was also a friend to many of his co-workers."
Friends say Mr. Finke enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting and fishing.
He was also a member of First Methodist Church in Charleston.
Finke is survived by his wife of one year, Heather Criswell Finke; his parents, Christy and Barbara Finke of Charleston; two brothers, Chris and Matt Finke, both of Charleston; a grandmother, Iola Finke of Charleston; and a grandfather, Robert Lee of Greenwood.
