TCHULA - Deputy Police Chief Charles Washington said Tuesday he still hasn't interviewed two men involved in a bloody altercation Sunday morning.
According to Washington, Demetrius Magee was sleeping at his aunt's mobile home in this Delta town of 2,200 residents when Ladrick Benford allegedly entered the residence and began beating Magee repeatedly with a baseball bat.
Benford was then stabbed repeatedly with a steak knife by Magee's girlfriend, who was in the trailer at the time of the attack.
All three required a trip to the hospital, the chief said.
Washington could not identify the girlfriend.
Magee and Benford are still hospitalized at the University Medical Center in Jackson, Washington said. Magee's girlfriend was treated and released.
He said no charges have been brought in the case - and that none are likely - until he can interview both Magee and Benford.
Washington, who will step down from his post in January, said his department is continuing to investigate the incident.
