Authorities are uncertain if Rordera Hunt, 16, will attend his mother's funeral on Saturday.
Rordera, 215 E. McLaurin St., is in Leflore County Jail, accused of the murder of Johnathan McCoy, 19.
The police chief will have to make the decision, said Greenwood Deputy Police Chief Henry Purnell.
Chief Henry Harris didn't return calls to his office this morning.
Ironically, Rordera is a victim, too.
Someone shot and killed his mother, Sharon Renae Hunt, not far from where authorities say McCoy died of gunshot wounds 13 hours earlier in the McLaurin Street Park area.
Authorities also say the killings, which occurred last Thursday and Friday, are connected.
Investigators and narcotics agents with the Greenwood police arrested Rordera on Monday, nearly four days after McCoy of 319 Stephens St. died at the in-tersection of Roosevelt Avenue and West McLaurin.
Authorities haven't arrested anyone in the shooting of Sharon Hunt.
On Friday, residents in the McLaurin area flagged down officers on patrol after discovering her body, lying near the intersection of Avenue F and McLaurin Street.
The funeral service for Hunt, also of 215 E. McLaurin St., is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at East Percy Street Christian Church. Great Southern Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
