Once again the Greenwood-Itta Bena Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. is gearing up for the 49th annual Ebony Fashion Fair, which will be held at 8 p.m. Feb. 28, at the Leflore County Civic Center.
This year the theme is "Stylishly Hot," and sorority members are sure that it will be just that.
The Ebony Fashion Fair, which is known as the world's largest traveling fashion show, debuted in September in Chicago and will finish in Bermuda this May after visiting nearly 180 cities - including Greenwood.
The show will feature clothes by many top designers, including, Vivienne Westwood, Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, Bill Blass and Jean Louis Scherrer.
All ticket prices include a one-year subscription to Ebony magazine or a six-month subscription to Jet magazine.
Guests will also be entered to win two round-trip airline tickets from American Airlines, a 2007 Ford Edge, a one-year supply of hair care products from Soft Sheen-Carson and selected items from Fashion Fair Cosmetics.
Local members of Delta Sigma Theta have been working hard planning and preparing for the fair for months.
The Ebony Fashion Fair is one of the biggest fund-raisers of the year for the Greenwood-Itta Bena chapter of the sorority.
The chapter was chartered in Leflore County in 1963 with 16 members. Today the chapter has a membership roster of more than 60 women from Leflore, Sunflower, Carroll, Holmes and Grenada counties.
