This year's Balloon Fest will feature some new activities in downtown Greenwood, which will begin the busy weekend.
On Thursday, downtown Greenwood will be the happening place. Events planned include the second annual Art Alfresco, along with a free street dance.
Art Alfresco, presented by Main Street Greenwood and sponsored by BellSouth, will feature artwork in various media by area artists.
Selected stores in downtown Greenwood will have their doors open from 5-8 p.m., and they will be displaying artwork and offering guests refreshments and entertainment.
Artwork will include photography, paintings in oil and watercolors, pottery and various other interesting pieces.
Participating businesses include Port Eliot Furniture, Fincher's Antiques, Traditions, Arts for Success, La Tre Galleria, the Sweet Pea, Smith and Co. Merchant and Clothier, Dancing Rabbit Books, the Mississippi Gift Co., the Silver Handbag, A Pocket Full of Posies, Lady Bug Fashions, and the Greenwood Blues Heritage Museum and Gallery.
The street dance will take place from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the corner of Howard and Church streets.
The featured entertainment will be Ken Spencer's "Under the Gun."
Balloon Fest also is hosting a VIP Sponsor reception at The Alluvian from 6-7:30 p.m.
