A gift from one home to another home.
That's what Anna Seto had in mind when she donated several books to the Greenwood-Leflore Public Library last week.
Seto and her daughter, Angela, recently returned to their homeland of the Orient. The Setos are originally from Hong Kong, and they traveled to China in early May, where they spent 26 days with family and friends. While in China, the Setos purchased several books to be donated to the library. The books are all colorful picture/history books about ancient and famous landmarks in China. They include "The Forbidden City," "The Summer Palace," "The Great Wall" and "Beijing."
The books are written in both English and Chinese, and they provide an intricate detail of the history of these landmarks, along with brilliant photographs.
"I wanted to bring these from home to home," said Anna. "I want to share with my home now what a great home I come from. This is my way of sharing my heritage with Greenwood."
"We're delighted they gave these books to us," said Susan Harris, director of the library. "Everyone in the community can enjoy these. They will be processed and available for checkout very soon."
While in China, the Setos visited many of the places that can be seen in the books, including the Great Wall and Beijing. It was Angela's first time to travel to the mainland of China.
"It was so neat," Angela said. "But I was so tired. There was so much to do. I cannot believe I would ever get tired of shopping, but I did. And, I spent a lot of time with family. I enjoyed it so much."
