The third annual Schlater Christmas Parade will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Schlater. Sponsoring this year's parade include Freddie White-Johnson and the Deep South Network for Cancer Control, Rep. May Whittington, Teens Against Premature Pregnancy, the Partnership for a Healthy Leflore and the Kappa Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha. The parade's grand marshal will be Sen. David Jordan, and several entries have already been scheduled for the parade, including Greenwood Leflore Hospital, the Greenwood Police Color Guard, the Leflore County High School Band, Mr. and Miss LCHS, Mr. and Miss Schlater, Paul Brooks and his motorcycle club, the Schlater fire truck and the T.Y. Fleming Girl and Boy Scout Troops. Getting the Christmas tree ready for the holiday parade include, from left, Kameron Parker, Veronica Flowers, Kimberly McLemore, Lula Friend, Freddie White-Johnson, Buddy Fillyaw, Kimberly Hudson and Roosevelt Hudson Jr. Parade line-up will be at noon. Two boxes of food will be raffled for $1 per ticket, and the proceeds will go to help fund next year's parade. Candy and fruit baskets will be provided for children and senior citizens, and they are being donated by Barbara Duncan-Waites, Sam Abraham, Lee Abraham, Larry "Kite" Johnson, Rep. May Whittington and the Deep South Network for Cancer Control.
