Friday night promises to be full of fun for the whole family as Salute to Agriculture kicks off.
"Agriculture is a big part of the Delta. Salute to Agriculture is our way of honoring the agriculture business," said Beth Henderson, executive vice president of the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce.
Radio personality Paul Ott will be performing live at the Salute to Agriculture. Ott is the host of the radio and television show, "Listen to the Eagle," where he promotes his message of "conservation not preservation."
"Paul is a great advocate for agriculture. He's been to Greenwood before, and each time it's been a new experience. You never know what to expect with Paul Ott," said Terri Grantham, administrative assistant.
The Agriculture Committee will honor four former Leflore County agents for their service to the community. They are W.M. "Bill" Fleming, Carl Wilburn, Randy Smith and George Garrison.
The Salute to Agriculture is also offering a catfish dinner and a chance to win door prizes. Exhibits by the Mississippi Extension Service, Staplcotn and Farmers Supply, among others, will be on hand. The Young Farmer of the Year for 2005 will also be announced Friday night.
Tickets are $7.50 per person and can only be purchased at the chamber. The event will begin at 6 p.m.
