The Mockingbird should open for business Thursday after the weekend's storm forced the restaurant-bakery to close for repairs.
The Lorraine Building suffered some roof and gutter damage when storms from Hurricane Rita blew through town, according to Carol Daily, president of Viking Hospitality Group. The damage allowed water to seep into the rooms below.
Workmen replaced drywall and insulation Tuesday at the building.
In addition to the restaurant, the building at Howard and Church streets houses the Alluvian Spa and an area under renovation for the Viking Cooking School.
Donald Bender, a baker and partner in the Mockingbird, on Sunday morning noticed "some wetness coming down from the walls" in the eating area, Daily said.
The seepage increased in speed and volume. The damage didn't extend to the kitchen.
The spa also incurred some minimal damage, Daily said.
