An Ohio man accused of killing his infant daughter remained jailed in Greenwood this morning while awaiting trial.
Charles Funches, 20, of Akron has been charged with murder, felonious assault and child endangering in the alleged shaking death of his 3-month-old daughter, ShaunTeria Edwards, on Jan. 12 to stop her crying.
Police arrested Funches early Wednesday at a relative's home in Greenwood. Danielle Edwards, the mother of the dead child, was with Funches when he was arrested.
Funches jumped bail two weeks ago after testing positive for marijuana in early June. He had been under house arrest despite pleas from police that he might flee, and had already been jailed once for leaving his home for 23 hours.
A tip led Greenwood police to the same address he gave Akron officers when he was arrested.
Funches told Greenwood Municipal Judge John Henson on Wednesday that he would waive extradition to Summit County. No date has been announced for his return. He was in Greenwood City Jail this morning.
Prosecutors filed a motion Wednesday asking Judge Mary Spicer of Summit County Common Pleas Court for an order to seize the $10,000 bond put up by Funches' family and friends.
