Authorities have arrested a third man and accused him of the April 30 shooting of Lucas Smith.
Mario Harris, 26, of 1014 Lindsey Ave., was arrested this morning, according to Greenwood Deputy Police Chief Huntley Nevels.
Bond has yet to be set for Harris.
Shortly after the shooting, authorities arrested Repredto Reed, 23, of 1003 Clay Ave., who has said he doesn't know why the shooting victim, Lucas Smith, identified him but that police have the wrong man.
Reed said he woke up April 30 just before 8 a.m. and walked over to his cousin's house to play dominoes.
Police found him at his cousin's house on Hilton Avenue.
Police considered him suspicious because Reed had a loaded gun beside him, the young man said.
Reed bought the gun several days prior because "folk just been going crazy and shooting folk around here," he said.
Reed is out of jail on $65,000 bond.
Authorities also arrested Brandon Smith, 20, and accused him of assault, Nevels said.
On April 30, around 11:02 a.m., Smith was a passenger in a vehicle traveling east in the 200 Block of East McLaurin when three suspects came from between two houses and started shooting.
The shooting occurred on the short stretch of McLaurin Street between Avenues G and H. Witnesses have said that the shots came from Morgan Alley and were directed at a car Smith was driving.
Smith was shot several times in the right shoulder and once in the neck. He was taken to University Medical Center in Jackson.
Smith has since been released from the hospital, authorities said.
