CARROLLTON - William Lee Barry Jr. faces an armed robbery charge in Greenwood as well as kidnapping and armed robbery charges in Carroll County, according to a spokesman for the Greenwood Police Department.
Barry, 26, was arrested at his apartment on Lamb Road in Grenada Friday night. Earlier in the day, he allegedly robbed a Greenwood legal secretary at knifepoint in her residence above the Jefferson community in Carroll County and then forced her into her vehicle to go for more money.
The victim, Jenny Anderson, managed to escape and run to a neighbor's house for help.
Bond was for Barry was set at $100,000 by Northern District Justice Court Judge Jimmie Avant Wednesday.
On the same day, Greenwood police charged Barry with robbing Shell-Go at 503 W. Park Ave. The Shell-Go robbery occurred April 25 at 9:33 p.m., said Sgt. Lee Taylor. Barry allegedly used a handgun when he took an undisclosed sum during the armed robbery.
Barry remains in the Carroll-Montgomery Correctional Facility. If he posts bond, he will not be released, but will be taken into custody by Greenwood authorities to undergo another bond hearing in the Shell-Go case.
Anderson identified Barry from a Carroll Academy yearbook. He graduated in 1992.
