Graveside service for Edwin McCool Sr. of Greenwood was 11 a.m. today at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Mr. McCool, 94, died of heart failure, Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at Golden Age Nursing Home.
He was born Dec. 19, 1911, to Chalmers and Alice Breazeale McCool. He was a native of Attala County and attended Attala County schools and Sunflower Junior College. He was a plantation manager for 33 years at Glen Burr Plantation. He was a Baptist.
Mr. McCool was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Oglesby McCool; and three brothers, Vardaman McCool, Noel L. McCool and Houston McCool.
He is survived by a daughter, Edwina M. and husband, James, Quinn of Greenwood; a son, Richard "Sonny" McCool Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Mitzi Kelly Peeples of Rayne, La., Billy "Bubba" Kelly of Greenwood, Angela M. McConnell and Jeffery McCool, both of Memphis, Tenn., and Blake McCool of Roanoke, Ala.; and five great-grandchildren, Todd Peeples and Chris Peeples, both of Rayne, Bunny McCool and Sesalie McCool, both of Roanoke and Kevin McConnell of Memphis.
The Rev. Greg Plata will officiate at the service. Wilson & Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Billy Kelly, Blake McCool, Michael Scott, James Quinn, Jim Quinn, Kevin McConnell, Roosevelt Roach, Todd Peeples and Chris Peeples.
Visitation was 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
