The Leflore County School District will offer a variety of summer school programs throughout June.
The first, Summer Extended School, will be held June 4-29.
It runs from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and covers reading, math and language arts. A lunch will also be provided.
The second program, known as Summer Camp, also will be held June 4-29, from noon to 4 p.m. It overs art, music, dance, games and other physical activities, said Willie Jean Hall, the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.
Hall spoke Tuesday night during the monthly meeting of the Leflore County School Board.
For both programs, transportation will be provided. Each of the summer programs is sponsored in part by a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant.
The district is also planning technology training for parents and teachers on June 5, 13, 19 and 25 at the T.E.A.M. Technology Training Center, located at 522 W. Park Ave. Each daily session is scheduled to run from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, the board approved transferring Lot No. 12 of the Braley Campsite from Lewis Hodge Jr. to Jim Jones.
They also approved the transfer of Lot No. 17 of the Braley Campsite from Warren Corley and Zetta Craddock to Lewis Hodge Jr.
The board also approved acceptance of a $1,000 donation from the Wal-Mart Foundation for the Teacher of the Year.
The award will go to Shelsia Brown, a teacher at Claudine Brown Elementary School.
