The Greenwood School Board wants to keep its agenda and meetings on computer.
The board approved Tuesday to enter an agreement with the Mississippi School Board Association, which will provide the software for the meetings.
Texas-based Boardbook Software will provide the connection and training. The annual license and support will cost $2,000.
"Once the software is purchased, then the training will begin to teach you how to get it and how to use it," said Superintendent Les Daniels. "I hope this answers your needs."
According to its Web site, The Association of Texas School Boards created the Web-based application. It's designed to streamline preparations for school board meetings, allowing secretaries to post board agendas, notices and minutes on a Web site.
The school district also could post documents to the Web for availability to the public. It's uncertain if the Greenwood School District will make its electronic records immediately available on the Internet.
However, people seeking access to minutes shouldn't have a problem getting school board records.
Under the Mississippi Public Records Act, a public body must make all public records available for inspection and ensure reasonable access to records electronically maintained. The cost of obtaining those records isn't specified by state law.
