On the subject of generosity, most of us don’t have a half-million dollars to give to worthy local causes, but we can still share our blessings in smaller ways.
Christmas is the season for giving, and there are lots of local charitable efforts at this time of year deserving of support.
If you don’t already have a favorite, the Commonwealth recommends the Adopt-A-Family program, which is run by The Salvation Army in partnership with the newspaper.

For a $100 donation, you can help provide a needy family with food, clothes and, if they have young children, toys to make their Christmas much brighter than it otherwise would have been.
This holiday campaign, which started in 1980, helps several hundred families in our community every year, thanks to the sharing spirit that abounds in the greater Greenwood area. This year there are 297 on the list to be adopted.
