Mustangs take second game of DH

Pillow Academy avoided being swept in its District 1-4A opener by knocking off Bayou Academy 7-2 Thursday night in the second game of a doubleheader at Louis Coleman Field at Utroska Park.
The Mustangs lost the first game 15-3. Bayou won the three-game series 2-1.

Riley Coleman and Mere Austin Wilkey scored two goals each for the Lady Mustangs, who improve to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in district.

Pillow netters earn team win over Bayou

Pillow Academy’s tennis team closed out the regular season with a 5-4 win over visiting Bayou Academy Tuesday at Twin Rivers.

The Mustangs got four wins in girls singles and doubles and one win in boys singles to knock off Bayou.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
