Pillow soccer, tennis gain wins

The Pillow Academy girls soccer team claimed a 6-0 win over Washington School Friday in Greenville.
The Lady Mustangs (7-0) got two goals from Karen Hernandez, and one each from Mary Laine Dyksterhouse, Riley Coleman, Emma Beckwith and Mere Austin Wilkey. Jimena Valensa had two assists.

State funding for Mississippi Medicaid tops $1 billion

Pillow netters earn team win over Bayou

Pillow Academy’s tennis team closed out the regular season with a 5-4 win over visiting Bayou Academy Tuesday at Twin Rivers.

The Mustangs got four wins in girls singles and doubles and one win in boys singles to knock off Bayou.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
