The Greenwood High boys placed four players in double figures as the Bulldogs posted a 71-53 win over Region 3-4A foe Clarksdale High School Tuesday night at GHS.
Greenwood (14-5 overall, 3-1 in district) led 11-10 after one, 31-25 at the half and 48-34 after the third frame. The Bulldogs are 7-1 in their last eight games.
James Holmes led the way with 21 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Joseph Warren had 19 points and 15 boards, and Markell Johnson finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Javeon Smith had 13 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and two steals.
In the girls game, Clarksdale claimed a 48-14 win as it led 22-0 after one. Angel Pilcher led Greenwood (3-16, 0-4) with five points, two steals and two rebounds. Kaytlin Jones had four points and eight rebounds.
Greenwood is at Gentry Friday.
-Leflore County: The Lady Tigers and Tigers both dropped Region 3-2A games to visiting Northside High School Tuesday night.
The girls fell 43-9 as they trailed 18-4 after one and 26-4 at the half. Jakyrra Sandifer led Leflore (2-14, 0-5) with two points and four boards.
Northside won the boys game 56-45 as it led 17-9 after the first, 34-21 at the half and 44-35 after the third period.
Ladarius Pleasants paced the Tigers (5-11, 1-4) with 11 points. Kyle Moore, Keveon Cross and D’rion Freeman had eight points each, and Tavion Dean tacked on seven.
Leflore is at Coahoma County Friday.
-J.Z. George: The Jaguars fell to 4-13 overall and 1-1 in Region 4-2A with a 79-58 loss at Calhoun City Tuesday night.
Calhoun led 16-13 after one, 46-23 at the half and 64-35 after the third.
Keiyhaun Wilks led the Jags with 12 points. Deshaun Hemmingway and Rodney Catron had 10 each, and Nehemiah Williams finished with eight points.
In the girls game, Calhoun won 60-20. Aaniyah Williams led the Lady Jags (3-17, 1-1) with 18 points.
