Carroll starts 0-6 in softball


The Carroll Academy girls fast-pitch softball team is off to an 0-6 start after dropping an 11-0 decision to Washington School last Friday in Carrollton.

Presley Woods and Meri Brynn Reeves had a single each for the Lady Rebels. Woods also stole two bases, and Reeves had one steal.

Peyton Perry threw five innings, allowing seven earned runs.

In a game against Benton on July 29, CA lost 12-4. Reeves had two singles, a stolen base and scored one run. Kaitlyn Chamblee had two singles, a stolen base and scored a run, while Helen Claire Cobb had a single and a stolen base. Mary Jordan Milton and Mary Braxton plated a run each.

Perry threw four innings, giving up six earned runs out of the 12 allowed.

Carroll played at the Jackson Victors Monday and entertains Humphreys Academy Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. The Lady Rebels go to Heritage Academy Friday for a 6 p.m. contest. Carroll is hosting a junior varsity tournament Saturday.

The Lady Rebels bounced back with a 10-2 win at Victors followed by a 21-2 win at home against Humphries avenging an earlier loss. With four of the next five contests at home, they are on a roll!
