The Pillow Academy boys were dominant as they raced to a first-place finish at the Pillow Academy Invitational track meet held Wednesday.

The Mustangs finished with 95 team points to easily outdistance second-place Washington School, which had 68 points. Bayou Academy came in third with 50 points, and Starkville was fourth with 41 points. Indianola had 16 points, and Deer Creek was last with 15 points.

Pillow placed first in nine of 10 events. Senior Floyd Melton IV won the 300 hurdles in 43.57 and the 400 dash in 54.02. Bryce Miller won the 100 dash in 11.26, and Bobby Bennett claimed the 800 run in 2:08. Jeffery Bready won the 3200-meter run in 12:39.

Pillow swept the 400-, 800-, 1600- and 3200-meter relays. The foursome of Richard McQueen, Alex Lindsey, Jack Reichle and Miller won the 400 in 46.33, and the tandem of McQueen, Hagan Wilson, Reichle and Lindsey won the 800 in 1:37.

The 1600 relay team of Porter Spell, Bennett, Lindsey and Melton were first in 3:41, and the 3200 foursome consisted of Spell, Bennett, Bready and John Hollis Tackett. Their time was 9:07.

Spell was second in the 1600-meter run in 4:59.

The Pillow varsity girls placed second overall as they finished with five first-place finishes. Claire Coleman won the long jump in 16-8; the 100 dash in 13.35; and the 200 dash in 27.46. Brooke Kimmell won the 800 run in 2:44, and the foursome of Elise Howard, Allie Beck, Allie Hargett and Kimmell won the 3200-meter relay with a time of 11:45.

Skyler Phillips was second in the 3200 run in 14:34, and Sarah Presley Howard, Kimmell, Beck and Caroline Brock were second in the 1600-meter relay in 4:46. Madison Barlow, Kennasia Davis, Brock and Coleman were second in the 800 relay in 1:51.

Kayla Brown was third in the discus with a toss of 77 feet, 91/2 inches. Davis was third in the high jump in 4-6. Brock took fourth in the triple jump in 31 feet, 21/2 inches, and Anna Flowers Hamrick was fourth in the 3200-meter run in 14:46. Kaylie Blaylock was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 55.89, and Avery Howard was fourth in the 100 hurdles in 19.03.

Elise Howard was fourth in the 1600 run in 6:39, and Beck was fourth in the 400 dash in 1:12. Barlow, Davis, Brock and Coleman were fourth in the 400 relay in 57.70.

Kayla Brown took fifth in the shot put in 26-1, and Brock was fifth in the long jump in 15 feet, 11/2 inches. Phillips was fifth in the 1600 run in 6:58.

The Pillow junior high girls placed fourth overall. Avery Howard had the lone first-place finish with a 7-foot effort in the pole vault.

Madison Barlow was second in the 200 dash in 29.46, and Virginia Harris was second in the long jump in 14 feet, 81/2 inches. The foursome of Edi-Ann Mitchell, Addison Weems, Sarah Presley Howard and Harris were second in both the 400 and 800 relays with times of 55.2 and 1:57, respectively.

Howard was third in the 100 dash in 13.95, and Blaylock was third in the 400 dash in 1:08. Maggie Jennings was fourth in the shot put in 22 feet, 8 inches, and Kaylee Mitchell and Beck tied for fourth in the high jump in 4 feet, 2 inches. Campbell Williams was fourth in the 100 hurdles in 21.64, and the group of Kimsey Lindsey, Lola Harris, Tavi-Layne Johnson and Millie Moses were fourth in the 3200 relay in 13:05.

Edi-Ann Mitchell, Blaylock, Weems and Avery Howard were fourth in the 1600 relay in 4:58.
