The Greenwood High School boys basketball team placed five players in double figures en route to an 81-50 win over Amanda Elzy Saturday at Greenwood’s gym.

The Bulldogs (3-3) got a team-high 27 points, 17 rebounds and two assists from Javardrick Jackson. Jaydon Nwachi had 14 points and three assists, and Devontae Darby had 12 points and seven boards.

Jaimardrick Lawrence had 11 points, nine assists and four steals, and Montrelle Harris had 10 points, six assists and two steals.

The Bulldogs only led 13-12 after the first period and 37-31 at the half but outscored the Panthers 20-9 in the third and 24-10 in the fourth.

Reginald Miller led Elzy (3-4) with 11 points. Darius Donley, Montrelle Boyd and Isais Collins had nine points each.

In the girls game, the Lady Bulldogs prevailed 62-36 to up their record to 4-2. Greenwood led 10-7 after the first, 34-16 at the half and 50-26 after the third frame.

Antwanette Regular led a balanced scoring attack for the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points, seven rebounds, five steals and two assists. Alexus Taylor had 11 points, five steals and two assists, and Asia Smith and Alexzandria Glover had eight points each. Smith also had three steals, and Glover had four rebounds and four steals.

Aliya Herron tacked on seven points, eight boards and six steals, and Zylan Peeler had seven points, seven boards and two steals.

For Elzy, which falls to 2-5, Ashley Cooper had nine points. Antwanashia Mitchell had six points, and Zamiya Brown finished with five.

Greenwood hosts Kosciusko Tuesday, and Elzy is at Holmes County Central, also Tuesday.

n Delta Streets Academy: The Lions cruised to a 68-39 win over Winston Academy Friday at MVSU.

Winston jumped out to  17-13 lead after the first period, but DSA (3-1) went in front 30-26 by halftime. A 25-7 run in the third gave the home team a 55-33 lead headed to the fourth period.

Isaiah Tabor had 24 points, nine rebounds and six steals, and Jaylen Prayer had 14 points and 12 boards. Steve Patterson had eight, and Labrodrick Gooch tacked on seven points.

Delta Streets is at Greenville Christian Tuesday.

n J.Z. George: The Lady Jaguars and Jaguars salvaged their final games in their own tournament Saturday with a sweep of Noxapater High School in North Carrollton.

The girls (1-5) claimed a 44-20 win as they led 15-2 after one, 28-10 at the half and 36-15 after the third. Tashanda Fleming had 14 points, and Natajah Basin chipped in 12. Tyeshia Grant had five points.

In the boys game, the Jaguars (2-4) came out on top 66-19 as D’Anthony McGlothan led the way with 18 points.

Malik Branch had 15, and Brandon Watt tallied seven. Jordun Normal had six points. The Jaguars led 25-6 after the first, 44-15 at the half and 60-15 after the third.

In games from Friday night, Kosciusko pulled off a sweep as the Whippets won the boys game 50-41 and claimed the girls contest 66-29.

Kosciusko led 19-9 after one, 23-20 at the half and 37-34 after the third in the boys contest. Normal had 16, and Branch seven for the Jags.

In the girls game, Kosciusko led 22-0 after one, 49-0 at the half and 59-26 after the third. Fleming had 11, and Jakayla Winters six for J.Z. George, which plays at Nanih Waiya Tuesday.
