While Mississippi’s public high schools have seen their spring sports seasons canceled, the state’s private schools are still holding out hope of a return to action this year. The Midsouth Association of Independent Schools has announced on Twitter that it has not yet made the decision to cancel athletics and activities and that it is still exploring possibilities to resume spring seasons.

“There are still numerous options out there that would allow us to be ready and able to return to play if and when the opportunity presents itself,” the organization tweeted.

The MAIS noted it is unable to provide specifics at the current time. A resumption in play would affect Pillow Academy, Carrroll Academy and Delta Streets.

The Mississippi High School Activities Association announced last week it had canceled the rest of its spring sports seasons and suspended all activities through June 1 and until further notice.
