Carroll Academy and Amanda Elzy both suffered losses on the diamond Tuesday in prep baseball action.
The Rebels dropped an 18-2 decision to Central Holmes in Lexington. The Trojans trailed 2-0 going into the bottom of the third inning but tallied nine runs to lead 9-2. A six-run fourth made it 15-2. They tacked on three runs in the fifth.
Lofton Holly (0-1) took the loss on the hill as he went 22/3 innings, allowing six runs, walking three and fanning three. Zach Downs worked 21/3 innings, giving up 12 runs, walking four and striking out one.
Gavin Wiltshire had two hits and scored two runs. Holly had a single.
Carroll (2-2 overall) played host to Central Holmes Thursday and is slated to go to Benton Friday.
The Panthers, despite losing 13-3 at Charleston Tuesday, picked up a forfeit win over Shaw Wednesday to improve to 2-1 overall.
Kyrus Jones (0-1) took the loss against Charleston, allowing four runs and only recording one out. He had two singles at the plate, and Dephabian Fant had an RBI single.
Elzy hosts Humphreys County Friday.
