Amanda Elzy’s run in the state 3A playoffs was shortlived as South Pontotoc swept the Panthers Saturday in Pontotoc.

The Cougars won the first game 10-0 as they tallied six runs in the third, three in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Deontae Neal (1-1) took the loss for Elzy as he went all five innings, allowing 10 runs (five earned), striking out three.

Daylen Hayes and Norman Polk had a single each for Elzy.

In the second game, South Pontotoc prevailed 15-0 in five innings as Elzy served as the home team. The Cougars tallied four runs in the third, 10 in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Polk (1-2) went all five innings, allowing seven hits and fanning four. He also had the only base hit.

Elzy closes with a 6-12 overall record.
