The Leflore County boys track team competed in eight events at the Region 1-2A meet held Monday at Potts Camp High School and qualified in seven of those events for this weekend’s North 2A meet.

The North 2A meet will be held Saturday at Potts Camp.

Senior Willie McCline captured first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.93 seconds. He took third in the 200-meter dash in 22.81 seconds.

The 4x200 relay team of McCline, Anthony Johnson, Dekari Johnson and Vedarius Fipps was first with a time of 1:32.96. The Tigers did quite well in all of the relays as they were second in the 4x100, the 4x400 and the 4x800.

The 4x100 team, which was the same as the 4x200, had a time of 44.99. The 4x400 squad of Anthony and Dekari Johnson, Fipps and Antwon Gibson came in second with a time of 3:45.61. The 4x800 team of Anthony Johnson, Gibson, Lawrence Kyles and Fipps had a time of 9:10.

Maurice Edwards will be headed to North State after he finished second in the discus with a throw of 112-08.

The Lady Tigers qualified in two events. D’Miya Young finished fourth in the high jump in 4-04, and the 4x400 relay team of Young, Kalise Williams, Narkeshia Green and Jameshia Kyles was second in 5:02.

The 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams both placed fifth to just miss out on North State. The 4x100 had a time of 58.81, and the 4x200 team ran it in 2:06.11.

n Region 2-3A: Amanda Elzy and J.Z. George competed in the Region 2-3A meet held Monday at Winona High School.

The top four in each event qualify for the North 3A meet Saturday at Winona.

The Lady Panthers competed in seven events and qualified in all seven. Gabrielle Boyd had a first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:50, and the 4x800 relay team of Boyd, Janay Williams, Janiya Sims and Tychristian Smith was first in 12:25.

Selonia Groves took second in the discus with a throw of 82-05, and Boyd was second in the 400-meter dash in 1:07.27.

The 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams both finished second with times of 1:53.69 and 4:54, respectively. Members of the 4x200 team are Jakeeria Walker, Jocylynn Moore, Khadajah Harris and Smith, and the 4x400 team consists of Williams, Boyd, Smith and Moore. The 4x100 team of Walker, Harris, Moore and Smith  came in third in 54.32.

For the Panthers, they qualified in three of six events. Le’Andre Pittman had a second in the discus in 120-04, and the 4x200 relay team of Dephabian Fant, Dontavious McGill, Ladarius Ghoston and Devin Donley was third in 1:34.06. McGill came in fourth in the 400-meter dash in 54.77.

The 4x400 relay team of Travis Walls, Ghoston, Donley and Stephen Banks placed fifth with a time of 3:57.

J.Z. George competed in only three events in the boys meet. Senior Montavis Jenkins had a third in the discus in 117-06, and the 4x800 relay team of Malik Branch, Devontae Smith, Ceasa Glenn and Marquinn Watt was fourth in 9:39. Chris Rias placed seventh in the 3,200 run.
