Greenwood High School’s Arieyanna Glover looks to pass against Cleveland Central Tuesday at GHS. The Lady Bulldogs dropped a 52-49 decision. 

The Greenwood High boys claimed their fifth straight win as the Bulldogs knocked off Cleveland Central 60-49 Tuesday night at GHS.

Javardrick Jackson led the way with a 14-point, 13-rebound performance. He also had four steals. Jaydon Nwachi continued his steady play with 13 points and two assists, and Montrelle Harris had eight points.

Greenwood (7-3) led 25-10 after one, 29-19 at the half and 44-41 after the third frame.

In the girls game, the Lady Bulldogs dropped a 52-49 decision in overtime to slip to 5-5 overall with their third straight loss. Cleveland held leads of 14-10 after one, 28-26 at the half and 36-31 after the third period. GHS outscored Cleveland 16-11 in the fourth to tie the game at 47-47 headed to the extra period.

Arieyanna Glover and Alexzandria Glover had 13 points each. Arieyanna Glover also had six steals and four boards, and Alexzandria Glover had three rebounds. Aliya Herron tacked on 10 points, seven boards, two steals and two assists.

Greenwood plays Amanda Elzy Thursday at 7 and 8:30 p.m. at the Leflore County Tournament. GHS will take on Leflore Friday starting at 6 p.m.

n Amanda Elzy: The Panthers pulled away in the second and fourth quarters to beat McAdams 54-34 Tuesday night at Elzy.

After a 6-6 first period, Elzy went on a 20-8 run in the second for a 26-14 lead at the half. McAdams held an 11-8 advantage in the third, but the Panthers outscored the visitors 20-9 in the fourth.

Darius Donley led Elzy (4-5) with 17 points. Reginald Miller had eight, and Ladarius Davenport and Terry Randle had six each.

The Lady Panthers placed two players in double figures en route to a 43-35 win over the Lady Bulldogs. McAdams held a slim 6-4 lead after one, but Elzy tied the game at 15-15 at the half. The Lady Panthers led 25-22 after the third period.

Zamiya Brown had 13 and Ashley Cooper 11 for Elzy. Janay Williams hit for seven points.

After playing Greenwood Thursday, Elzy will take on Leflore at 4 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Leflore Tournament.

n Leflore County: The Tigers dropped a 59-56 decision to visiting Ruleville Central Tuesday in Itta Bena.

Cameron Williams paced the Tigers (0-4) with 18 points. Derrick Singleton and Jaylen Jackson had 10 each.

In the girls game, Ruleville won 57-13. Jakya Thompson led Leflore (1-3) with 11 points.

Leflore’s two teams play O’Bannon at 4 and 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Leflore.

n J.Z. George: Kosciusko High School took a pair of games from visiting J.Z. George Tuesday night.

The Lady Whippets won 68-53 as they led 21-10 after one, 39-30 at the half and 55-39 after the third.

Tashanda Fleming and Jasmine Newman had 15 points each for the Lady Tigers (2-7), and Jakyla Winters had 10 points. Natajah Basin finished with five points.

In the boys game, Kosciusko came out on top 63-36 as it led 14-10 after one, 32-19 at the half and 52-26 after the third frame.

Malik Branch had 20, and Jordun Normal 12 for the Jaguars (3-6).

J.Z. George will play Philadelphia at 4:30 and 5:45 p.m. Friday in the East Webster Shootout.

n Delta Streets Academy: The Lions were no match for Heritage Academy as the Patriots claimed a 65-27 win Tuesday nigh in Columbus.

Heritage led 18-4 after one, 36-16 at the half and 54-20 after the third frame.

Labrodrick Gooch had seven points for DSA (5-3). Jaylen Prayer tacked on six.

DSA plays host to Unity Christian Friday.
