Greenwood High School made quick work of Leake Central in their Class 4A first-round playoff game Friday night at Bulldog Stadium.

The Bulldogs erupted for 41 first-half points en route to a 43-0 win over the Gators, who came in as the fourth seed from Region 4. The Leake Central coach told the head official his team was “throwing in the towel” at the end of the third quarter, thus ending the game.

The Bulldogs, the top seed from Region 3, move on to face New Albany in the second round next week at GHS. New Albany, the Region 1 No. 2 seed, beat Shannon 54-32 Friday.

The Bulldogs broke out to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter. Senior tailback Jamarion Addison scored from 12 yards out at the 8:02 mark. With 3:55 to go in the quarter, he scored from two yards away. The third TD of the period came on a 20-yard pass from sophomore quarterback DeAndre Smith to senior receiver Kobe Chambers with 32 seconds on the clock. Daylin Metcalf booted all three PATs.

Addison, Smith and Chambers accounted for the next three touchdowns in the second quarter. Addison, who came into the game with 1,105 yards rushing on 134 carries, scored at the 11:17 mark on a seven-yard run. Smith and Chambers hooked up once again as Smith found him from 12 yards out at the 9:33 mark. With 1:25 to go before halftime, Smith and Addison connected from 22 yards away. Metcalf made two PATs for a commanding 41-0 lead at the break.

In the third period, sophomore linebacker William Stewart recorded a safety when he sacked the Leake Central quarterback in the end zone at the 4:32 mark.

After the clock ran out in the quarter, the decision by the Gator head coach to call it a night ended the game before 9 p.m.

Addison finished with 80 yards on seven carries. Smith had 20 yards on three tries. He also completed 10 of 13 passes for 160 yards with no interceptions and three TDs. Chambers had four receptions for 37 yards, and Metcalf had two grabs for 43 yards. Addison had one catch for 22 yards.

Stewart led the defense with 14 tackles, which included four sacks and two blocked punts. Davin Anderson had 10 tackles with two sacks and broke up three passes, and Altoryian Sandifer had eight tackles (three for loss).

Torrance Roscoe had six tackles, forced a fumble and recovered the fumble. Zarkavius Jones also had six tackles, forced two fumbles and recovered one.
