Regarding the editorial “Don’t rush impeachment” (Dec. 10):
Do you seriously believe that more evidence and testimony reinforcing what we already know will bring Republicans around to voting for impeachment?
The Republican Party of today is a far cry from what it was during the Watergate era 45 years ago.

Many thought that Donald Trump was being comical when he said that he could shoot someone and not be held accountable. Everyone should know by now that he was serious, and he just might have been correct.
He knew that if he did shoot someone, he was not going to turn himself into law enforcement if a warrant for his arrest was issued. He was going to keep in his possession the gun he used to do the shooting, so it would not be used as evidence. And worst of all, he knew that law enforcement was going to say there is no crime here.
If Trump is not held accountable for what he has done, precedence will be set. All of our future presidents will be the same as kings, and all respect for our laws within our country and outside our country will be destroyed. Then woe to America.
Regarding the article “3 men charged in fatal shooting” (Dec. 3):
This is sickening. Gangs shooting and killing their own people in this small populated community. For what? Greenwood streets don’t belong to them. They are not in charge of any territory. If they want to shoot and kill, go somewhere else with this mess.
Families are trying to raise their children to be better and do better. Hopefully, the new police chief and his force will take control of the gun and gang violence. He has his work cut out for him.
Animal cruelty law
Regarding the editorial “Federalizing animal cruelty” (Dec. 7):
The Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act will only come into play if there is a violation of interstate commerce or if the cruelty happens on federal property. This will not apply to animals abused within states.
