Medical marijuana

Regarding the letter to the editor by Dr. Sarah Katherine Gantz Pannel (“Medical marijuana would do medical harm,” Dec. 19):

That’s a nice little Catch-22 they have there. No evidence for medical effectiveness of marijuana because it can’t be tested for medical effectiveness because it’s in a class of drugs that is considered to have no medical effectiveness. Which designation it got back in the 1930s by a bunch of politicians and law enforcement officials who had no idea whether it has any medical effectiveness.

In the meantime, the laws against it have created criminals and ruined lives by the thousands.
