Litter is a major problem in Greenwood, and it’s hard to make lasting progress against those who despoil this community’s landscape with their thoughtlessness.

Nevertheless, we have to keep working at it, hoping that the litterers will eventually take pride in their surroundings by observing others who do.

Kudos to those volunteers, headed by the Rev. Guilianna Gray, who are organizing a major cleanup effort in conjunction with Earth Day. They are asking residents to pitch in on Monday, April 22, to make a dent in the litter problem at some of the worst dumping grounds in the city.

If you can help that day, even if only for a few hours, please do. The more who participate, the bigger the improvement will be.
