Graveside services for Murry W. Moorman will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Carroll County.

Mr. Moorman, 78, died Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.

He was born on Jan. 24, 1942, in Carroll County to Jesse James and Charlie Homer Narmour Moorman and lived in Greenwood.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his four brothers, Charles Edwin Moorman, Bill Moorman, Curtis M. Moorman and J.E. Moorman; and a sister, Mary Sue Glaze.

He attended Valley School at Teoc and was a body mechanic at Moore and McDavid Pontiac for a number of years. Murry was an accomplished musician and played with Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash and was a member of the Mack Allen Smith and the Flames band. He was a member of Lighthouse Ministries Church in Greenwood and enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Mildred Ann Harris Moorman of Greenwood; two sons, Bryan Buxton of Georgia and Wade Vance of Grenada; two daughters, Michelle and Scarlet; two stepdaughters, Angie Bree and Sharon Hayles; two stepsons, James Hayles and Brian Harris; and a number of grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Larry Shackleford will officiate the services.
