Mr. William Thomas Raby, 85, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Itta Bena Cemetery with the Rev. Andrew Kappenman officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home.

A native and lifelong resident of Itta Bena, Mr. Raby was born to T.E. and Tommie Lillian Raby on Dec. 21, 1933. He graduated from Humphrey High School and Sunflower Junior College, where he excelled at football. He owned and operated Raby’s Grocery for over 40 years in Itta Bena. He loved to hunt, fish and raise flowers and tomatoes. Mr. Raby was also a member of First Baptist Church in Itta Bena. 

Mr. Raby is survived by his wife of 63 years, Juanice Burton Raby; three sons, Keith Raby (Gayle) of Greenwood, Mark Raby (Jennifer) of Itta Bena and Terrell Raby (Kay) of Del Rio, Texas; a sister, Martha Foreaker of Fort Myers, Florida; nine grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Matthew Raby, Mitchell Raby, Michael Raby, Dustin Raby, Matthew Sellars and Trey Winters. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Goss and Grayson Winters.

Memorials may be made to the Leflore County Humane Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of donor’s choice.
